Met Gala Glamour- Our Favourite Hair Looks
Every year, the prestigious Met Gala sees A-listers the world over descend on New York’s finest red carpet to show off their unique looks, based around the theme set by the Met each year. This year’s theme was ‘avant-garde’, inspired by Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garçons, and it certainly didn’t disappoint in the style stakes. Here are some of our favourite red carpet looks from this year’s event…
Lily Rose Depp – Romantic Waves
Lily’s soft, romantic waves teamed with a sleek centre parting and loosely-tied bun are the perfect accompaniment to her bold, bright pink Chanel gown; pairing expertly with her chic, feline-inspired makeup look. The epitome of understated, yet expertly executed, elegance.
Kylie Jenner – Platinum Blunt Bob
Kylie surprised us all with her dramatic Met Gala transformation- trading in her trademark jet-black locks for a sleek, platinum blonde blunt cut bob. This bold style complements her dazzling, nude embellished gown perfectly and we hope this look sticks around for a while.
Rihanna – Messy Top Knot
Rihanna’s incredibly ornate dress certainly got the fashion world talking this week, but we love how she’s mastered the messy top knot. This Geisha-inspired look sees an elegant tousled bun counteracted with a bold, chunky fringe to create a dramatic look.
Lily Collins – Futuristic Black Crop
Taking the drama one step further was Lily Collins- usually known for her soft, wavy lob- completely reinventing herself with a sharp, masculine short blunt bob in jet black; a dedicated nod to the Comme des Garçons theme. Not a look everyone could pull off, we admire Lily’s bravery and think she looks fantastic – her hairstylist’s photos prove it’s definitely not a wig either!
Kim Kardashian – Sleek Lob
Kim knows glamour better than anyone and this year’s Met Gala was no exception, with Kim pairing her elegant white Vivienne Westwood gown with a sleek black lob. With a simple centre-parting and blunt ends, she manages to create a modern yet elegant look effortlessly.
